CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS: 2025 BILL CROWLEY MEMORIAL AWARD FOR PHOTOGRAPHY
The Field Botanists of Ontario (FBO) is a non-profit organization founded in 1984 to promote the appreciation and study of Ontario’s wild plants. In appreciation of the contributions of FBO’s late president Bill Crowley, the FBO established the Bill Crowley Memorial Award to recognize outstanding photographs of Ontario’s wild flora.
The winner of the 2025 Bill Crowley Memorial Award will be presented with a framed print of their winning photograph at the FBO’s annual general meeting in September and will have their photograph published in the Ontario Plant Press, FBO’s quarterly newsletter. One or more runner up photographs may also be featured in the Ontario Plant Press.
ELIGIBILITY
Submissions of photographs taken in Ontario are welcome from any member of the Field Botanists of Ontario. Applicants may submit one photograph per year.
SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS
With their photograph, applicants are asked to include
• a brief description of the photograph that encompasses, at minimum,
o the subject,
o the date on which the photograph was taken, and
o the general location where the image was captured.
• the applicant's name and full contact information (mailing address, email and/or phone number).
Applicants are to submit their photograph to awards@fieldbotanistsofontario.com no later than July 31st, 2025. Attachments must not exceed 10 MB in size.
Submissions will be judged by the FBO’s board of directors and/or membership. Prior to distributing photos for judging, FBO will take steps to reduce the possibility of image copyright infringement, which may include reducing DPI and/or adding a watermark.
The winner and runners up will be notified in late August or early September.
